Divisions and Other Regions

Norma Arm

A minor spiral arm of the Milky Way extending from and around its central hub region. Home of the Ganotians. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norma_Arm for more information.

Norma Arm

Milky Way Arms, Illustrated

This artist's concept illustrates the new view of the Milky Way, along with other findings presented at the 212th American Astronomical Society meeting in St. Louis, Mo. The galaxy's two major arms (Scutum-Centaurus and Perseus) can be seen attached to the ends of a thick central bar, while the two now-demoted minor arms (Norma and Sagittarius) are less distinct and located between the major arms. The major arms consist of the highest densities of both young and old stars; the minor arms are primarily filled with gas and pockets of star-forming activity.
The artist's concept also includes a new spiral arm, called the "Far-3 kiloparsec arm," discovered via a radio-telescope survey of gas in the Milky Way. This arm is shorter than the two major arms and lies along the bar of the galaxy.
Our sun lies near a small, partial arm called the Orion Arm, or Orion Spur, located between the Sagittarius and Perseus arms.

The outer edge of the Milky Way galaxy. General location of the Edeptis system.

Orion Molecular Cloud Complex

A huge cloud of gas and dust in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy that is forming stars and stellar systems. It covers most of the area of the constellation Orion as viewed from Earth, and contains new stars, protostellar objects, forming stellar systems, emission and absorption nebulae, and more. It lies between 1000-1400 light years (LY) away, and is easily hundreds of light years in diameter. A partial list of the objects within the cloud complex includes, but is not limited to: *Orion A Molecular cloud +The Orion Nebula, also known as M42 (part of Orion's Sword) +M43, which is part of the Orion Nebula +Sh2-279 (part of Orion's Sword) +NGC 1980 (part of Orion's Sword) +Orion Molecular Cloud 1 (OMC-1) =Becklin–Neugebauer Object =Kleinmann–Low Nebula +Orion Molecular Cloud 2 (OMC-2) +Orion Molecular Cloud 3 (OMC-3) +Orion Molecular Cloud 4 (OMC-4) +NGC 1981 +NGC 1999 +LDN 1641 +HH 1/2, the first two recognized Herbig-Haro objects +HH 34 a Herbig-Haro object with symmetric bow shocks *Orion B Molecular cloud +Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) +IC 434 =The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) +M78, a reflection nebula (NGC 2068) +McNeil's Nebula is a variable nebula discovered in 2004 near M78 +Orion East Cloud (LDN 1621 + LDN 1622) +HH 24-26 +HH 111 *Orion OB1 Association +Orion's Belt +Sigma Ori cluster +25 Ori cluster *Lambda Orionis molecular ring (Sh2-264)[4] +Lambda Ori cluster +Barnard 30 +Barnard 35 *Orion-Eridanus superbubble +Barnard's Loop (Sh2-276) +Eridanus Loop

Also captured is the red supergiant Betelgeuse (top left) and the famous belt of Orion composed of the OB stars Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. To the bottom right can be found the star Rigel. The red crescent shape is Barnard's Loop. The photograph appeared as the Astronomy Picture of the Day on October 23, 2010.

Galactic Divisions

There are fourteen Divisions in the Pan-Galactic Coalition. These are like precincts or regions; a way of organizing the galaxy and determining who to contact when something is needed. It also enables multiple star systems to work together for the betterment of their part of the galaxy.

Galactic Divisions

Division One

The first Division of the PGC, and the one in which the series is based. Its headquarters is on Earth, since it was a central location within the Division. Headquarters is on Division Avenue in Brooklyn, on the NE corner of the intersection with Kent Ave, within sight of the East River. The current Division One Director is Fox; his Assistant Director is Echo. Both are Originals. The previous Director was Oboe, also an Original. She has since retired.

Systems/planets in Division One include, but are not limited to:

Galactic Divisions

Division Two

Division Two's director is Ciarmhac Ulseleigh from Eriki.

Planets/systems in Division Two include, but are not limited to:

Galactic Divisions

Division Three

Division Three's director is Ghuvren Qiigfuf of Entiril.

NOTE: infamous planet Wontwuun, home of the Bozheen aka the Snails, is in this Division space, though they are not part of the PGC.

Planets/systems in Division Three include, but are not limited to:

Galactic Divisions

Division Four

Division Four's director is Sbug Fegtin of Daaenn.
